We made it!

Well, in case anyone was wondering if we made up to North Carolina or not...we did. It just took us awhile to get our internet up and running due to some minor snags in our move up here.

We are renting a house in the country next to a lake and the view is really beautiful. All except the house, that is....To make a long, complaining story short: the house is okay if you don't mind living with fleas, cigarette smoke damage, mice and cheap, 70's style, puke-green decor. Other than that it was fine. Hahahahaha! We had found another house to rent a month ago but it had already been rented out to a couple. The house was an adorable, old farm house with nothing but horse and cow fields surrounding us. We left our phone numbers with the renters in case the plans fell through and prayed that they would. Hahahhaaha! Just kidding.

Well, we got a call last week and the plans had fallen through and we are now going to move in Decemeber 15th! It will be a crazy Christmas but totally worth it. We wished that we could have gone down to Florida for Christmas but we will make up for it in January or February.

So despite the little trials that we have gone through, we are loving it up here and are blessed to be here. Caleb likes his job and is SO glad to have an indoor job now that the weather has been getting colder and colder. Olivia is in school and loves it. She and Lucas have adjusted very well to everything except missing their grandparents. Here is a picture of our first snowfall of the season that surprised everyone. It was a beautiful sight and we can't wait to see more of it!

I am working on getting some updated pictures up for you guys and I apologize for the delay. We miss everyone and I hope that you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy & Sad Trails

After much soul-searching, waiting and wondering, we have finally made our decision to move to North Carolina. Almost a year ago, we decided to check out other job opportunities for Caleb. And we thought we had found a good deal for him in Savannah, GA. As much as we loved Savannah, we also have always loved North Carolina. Yes, me especially! So we took the leap and as of mid-October we will be living in or near Greensboro, NC. We are still selling our house but have decided to rent it while we are renting and checking things out up there.

And MAN, have things started moving insanely fast! Which at this point, the faster the better. We are very sad to be leaving our family and friends behind but we are also hoping to convince some family members to follow..hahahha. And we would LOVE to have visitors! We are excited about starting somewhere new, getting on with our old dreams and making new ones.

Olivia has wanted to "move to the mountains" since we took a vacation up there over 2 years ago, so explaining that we will be living in the foothills is a little confusing to her. But once she has a picture to go with the foothills that we are talking about, then she will love it as much as we do. Fortunately, both Olivia and Lucas can adjust to change pretty well but I know that explaining how far their grandparents and cousins are from us will be a sad challenge.

We will probably be leaving in about 4 weeks so it will be awhile before I can give an update. But when I do, we will be in beautiful North Carolina so I hope that everyone is well and we will be in touch with the details as soon as we can!!

August 27, 2008 - Trying something new...

I can't believe summer is almost over!! But we have enjoyed every minute of it as far as going to the beach, celebrating 2 birthdays, playing with cousins, Vacation Bible School, spending lazy days eating popsicles, and swimming in Mama Tom's pool. And now we/I are ready for fall, cooler weather, watching the leaves change, football games, Halloween, etc...sorry...I love fall.

As for the kiddies : this year as Olivia enters kindergarden, we have decided that since our future is so uncertain along with the area that we live in, that it would be best for me to home school Olivia. And surprisingly, the process is easier than I thought. I am very excited to be able to teach Olivia and use non-traditional/creative teaching methods as well. Olivia is happy about "Mama" being her teacher, but a bit unsure as well. So I hope that I can change her uncertainty and excite her about learning from me at home. I know that she will miss being with her friends (especially Ansley) but we will keep in touch and plan play dates as often as we can.

Lucas is as active as ever and getting so tall! His speech continues to get clearer and I love having a conversation with him now. We are still working on potty training and God bless him, we're considering therapy for the pacifier. Hahhahha! He only gets it when he's sleeping but it will be MIA very soon. If he's not playing with his gazillion supply of cars and trucks, then he and Olivia are playing in their room. At least temporarily and then the crying and complaining starts. Hahhahaha! But the playing "together" just started this summer so it's fun to watch them play house or pretend Lucas' crib is a castle. The latest hilarious story about the kids was when they were playing in their bedroom together and Olivia brings Lucas out for me to see. She had put one of her dress-up bridal costumes on Lucas. So to shock and scare daddy, we added the matching dress up shoes and purse. Hahahha! And of coarse, there was no camera in sight....

Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend and I will have pictures up soon!
